This week was a week of many changes. For me (Guy), the greatest adjustment and change was the fact that I sold my truck, my pride and joy. I know it is the right thing to do; there is no way we could manage two vehicles on a seminary student’s salary. It is indeed a shock to come to terms with the fact that I haven’t been without a vehicle since I was 16. It is strange to be getting excited and having debates over who is better – not with Ford, Chevrolet or Dodge, but with Schwinn, Trek, or Cannondale.
Jessi is pleased as all get out this week because we finally were able to get the keyboard she was wanting. Even though it is still sitting in the box and begging to be played, we will hold off and stand firm until we get down to Texas before we set it up.
We are still slogging through the paring down and packing process. Today my dear sweet wife took a bunch of clothes to various donation centers and a whole box of papers containing sensitive information to the big paper shred event that took place yesterday…and we discovered a previously undiscovered box with confidential information while going through a room last night. Go figure! Gotta keep moving forward, we must be cleared out of our apartment by May 1. I am praying that the help will be available, right now the prospects aren’t looking too good.
Well, the yard sale was a rousing success. We managed to move lots of things that we could not or did not want to take with us. We netted approximately $290.00 from it and downsized considerably, which was a blessing from the Lord.
An update on the piano: it has been purchased by my parents so that my niece can take piano lessons. Today we went to the music store and made the purchase on the keyboard and accessories.
Our next steps include: selling my truck, moving our belongings from our apartment to storage, and making plans to move in with my parents for 9 days before the final departure on May 9.
We are having a yard sale on April 19 and 20, prior to moving. It may be cliche, but EVERYTHING MUST GO!!! We will be having the sale at Guy’s parents’ house, in the garage, so no worries about inclement weather. The address for the sale is: 2935 South Dayton, Springfield, MO 65807. The sale will be from 8 AM to 6 PM both days. We have posted the sale on Craigslist as well.
Also, I am having to sell my piano. It is a Wurlitzer console piano (upright). It is in tune and plays very well. We don’t want to move it to Texas with us; I am wanting to purchase a good keyboard instead. We are asking for $600 for the piano, bench, and piano lamp. If you or anyone you know is interested, please contact us!
Guy and I have been accepted at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX – he for seminary, and I for college. Guy will be working towards his Master’s in Divinity, while I will be completing my BA in Music. We decided to start a blog so that people can stay informed as to our progress while at Southwestern… our ups, our downs, our successes, our failures, and our attempts not to strangle each other in the process! Ha!
We have had several people say that they want to keep in touch. If you’re one of them, great! Here’s your opportunity. Please feel free to leave comments for us – we want to hear from you!
We are hoping that at least one of us will be posting something once a week. It may be brief (depending on the number of tests and papers we have to write), but we will do our best to keep in touch through this blog.
