About Us

I (Guy) first saw Jessica at Smith Park in Springfield, Missouri one summer day when our single adult class at church had a picnic there.  The softball diamond was already taken, so we wound up entertaining ourselves by throwing Frisbees, footballs, baseballs, etc.

Fast forward two years: our interim Worship Pastor left our church (Second Baptist), so we had a sendoff and Jessi was there.  I escorted her out to her car and she gave me her San Antonio address; she was in the Army and stationed at Ft. Sam Houston.

We began a letter writing and phone campaign, calling and writing back and forth to each other, getting to know one another and talking about dreams, hopes, plans and fears.  This culminated with me telling her I would like to court her with the intent to marry her.  I just finished reading Boy Meets Girl: Say Hello To Courtship by Joshua Harris and he explained how we need to stop “dating” and start “courting.”  That was the model I used with Jessi.

Jessi was discharged from the Army in November of 2008 and came back to Springfield.  I proposed to her at the same park that we met at on a cold, grey, rainy Saturday right after Thanksgiving.

Our big day finally came on September 12, 2009 when were united in matrimony  at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Meyers officiating, with a week-long honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

We are members of Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX.  We currently have no children, and now we are embarking on a new journey and entering a new season of our lives.
